Two Weeks In Stone Limbo

Boulder on the hillside
Felt this big. It did not rock.
Hi. It's been 2 weeks since I posted. Why? Well...

I posted for my birthday, then went to run my D&D 5e game. About 2.5 hours in, I got dizzy, nauseous, and feverish all of a sudden, and my pants felt far too tight. One trip to the ER later, with two IVs (the first one wouldn't clear so they ran a second one), a CT scan, some morphine, and a couple of scrips, they told me I had a 4mm kidney stone. They also gave me a 10-day course of antibiotics for the UTI they found, though I'm guessing the bacteria they found was my fault, because intense pain and morphine makes peeing in a cup =so= easy.

Apparently the antibiotics made me feel like crap. I've had zero pain since then, but I've just been so tired for two weeks. I'd sit and make myself available to actually write something, and then just nod off at my desk. The antibiotics ended on Wednesday, but yesterday was the first day I felt passably human. I've been doing the minimum required for the past 2 weeks, and there's much to catch up with, gaming and otherwise.

I missed the deadline for the Indie Adventure Jam, though I've got notes for a Sword of Cepheus adventure that I'll still put out at some point. I just didn't think I could pull together layout and polishing the adventure text in 24 hours. Bleh. I might be done with game jams for a little bit after that, but we'll see if anything catches my eye in the future. I'm finding that game jams are a good way to push myself to finish things. The power of a deadline motivates me.

As for other projects, here's what's on my plate:
  • Daggerstar - I'm slowly remaking Daggerheart for a sword-and-laser game inspired by Traveller. I need to start hacking domain cards and seeing how they work with my class ideas.
  • Motewright - A new fantasy/postapocalyptic TTRPG focused on items, settlements, and interpersonal relationships. The origin story is detailed in a previous blog post, but the idea is still germinating in my brain.
  • Bolthaven Folio #2: Bard Bands - I've had ensemble magic on my mind for a while, so I'm putting together the rules for teams of bards to create large magical effects in a zine.
  • Adventure Writing - It looks like I'll be a part of a forthcoming crowdfunding campaign. We're still in the design stage for an adventure I'll be designing and writing, but I'm excited for it. More as it transpires.
  • Hire Me To Edit Things - I've been everything from a Development Editor to a Proofreader, but I'll give you feedback as if I'm your First Reader, asking questions before you publish to a wider audience. And since I still don't have a day job, my schedule has plenty of space for your project. Take a look at my editing CV that I promise I'll update any day now.
Hopefully my brain lets me complete some of these projects before spinning off in new directions. Focus is a challenge, y'all.

TL;DR - Hopefully I'm back at making gaming things after two weeks of staring at walls. Please hold applause until something new actually releases.

Please let me know if you're interested in hearing more about any of these projects, and I'll post with more details.

Rock the hell on.
