Bolthaven Folio #4 Is Live

Howdy, all!

I just hit the "Make Public" buttons for Bolthaven Folio #4: On Our Honour at my itch.io and DriveThruRPG stores. I wrote the first draft of this zine back in 2019, when I first conceived of Bolthaven Folios, and then I sat on it for 7 years. Thanks COVID-19, undiagnosed depression, and the general enshittification of America.

BUT WE'RE BACK NOW. I overhauled what I wrote, and my kid wanted a second crack at the art (and I love what they did!). So we spent most of June making this zine to unleash upon you and your tabletop game cohorts. Head over and download a copy, kick in a few bucks if you're able, and don't forget to rate and review.

Store Happenings

I listed Folio #4 as Pay What You Will, the same as everything else in both shops. After this summer, I'm planning on moving most of my products away from PWYW. I feel like I'm hitting a critical mass for the catalog, and though it's nice to have a hundred copies of something I created out there, it would be far nicer to maybe afford a meal from the efforts I've made to publish these things.

I've got a few products listed on my RPG-Trader shop. I missed the go-live by a few days, so I don't have a pretty Founding Member icon, but so it goes. I'm there now, and folk are downloading things with me doing zero outreach, so it certainly feels like something good is happening. I'll get the Folios set up over there soon, and maybe I can test out some print products that they'll handle and ship.

Speaking of which, I'm lining up an online store to handle physical copies that I've printed myself (which I vastly prefer). I also reached out to my FLGS to see if they'd be interested in carrying some of my zines. More on these fronts as they happen.

I recently made some headway on MoteWright, but there's much more to go before I get to a playable version. I'm still working with mechanics to figure out what's going to give me the vibe I'm looking for. The game deals with Hope vs. Fear, but I'm not sure it works as a Daggerheart hack. Yeah, more on that soon as well.

Next Up

The next project on my horizon is Taberna Celeris, a trifold tavern generator. I had so much fun with Tabula Mortis, I figured I'd do another random generator (and maybe a third later to make a triptych of trifolds). Copying the layout from a previous project really speeds up the process, y'know? I've got a few art pieces settled, so I just need to populate all the tables with fun things to think about and play with. I'm hoping that'll hit my shops sometime in July, so stay tuned.

Oh yeah, I signed up for this year's Appendix N Jam, which kicks off (checks calendar) tomorrow? Oh, yeah, it's July already. Well, I'll see what my title is in the morning and start the brainstorming, then. So I guess I'll have something else for July as well.

I Can Edit Your Game

I'm starting to reach out and offer editing services more actively than I have been. I'm still organizing a marketing plan, but finding small creators and publishers that have the need, the desire, and the means for my services perpetually challenges small businessfolk like me. If you're interested, I updated my Editing CV recently, so go take a look at some of the projects I've worked on. Assuming more editing gigs materialize this summer, that should provide at least some income in the absence of a day job.

Then again, I've got a couple of companies setting up interviews with me all of a sudden, so this whole push could be moot by the end of the summer.

Who the heck knows? Right now we'll take it one day at a time and see what happens next.

Until then, my friends: Stay cool. Focus on the goodness wherever you are. Stay safe.

Pax humana.
