Since 50 is a nice, round number, let's talk about milestones for week 50 of The Rumor Mill. We look at record high graduation classes at the College, and record low vacationers at Crystal Lake. Annual festivals, newly-returned dragons, people healed, and zero combat fatalities round out our list of rumors this week.
So let's dive in to the round numbers of anniversaries, milestones, and record lows of this week's worldbuilding miscellany. We've got 2 more Rumor Mills to go, and 3 days left in the year to finish them. I think I've got this, but we'll see for sure in a few days.
1d8 | Rumor | True? |
---|---|---|
1 | The Divinity Sanctum celebrates 200 years of shared sacred space this year. | Yes1 |
2 | It's the 400th annual Gostra Festival this year, so expect huge crowds. | Maybe2 |
3 | Camillians recently passed 100,000 people healed, to zero fanfare. Shameful. | No3 |
4 | The Ten Days' War resulted in zero combat fatalities for Fellport defenders. | Maybe4 |
5 | The six dragons that ended the Ten Days' War were the first seen in 500 years. | Yes5 |
6 | Playwrights work on new shows to submit to FolioFest 20 next spring. | Maybe6 |
7 | War interrupted vacation season, so Crystal Lake saw fewer swimmers than ever. | No7 |
8 | At this past spring's commencement, the College graduated a record 200 wizards. | Yes8 |
1 - Whoever came up with the idea of every god sharing a single temple was a mad genius. Nobody expected it to last a year.
2 - Gostra has been a sport for at least that long, but the festival started somewhat later. Nobody really knows, so hype wins.
3 - The Order of St. Camillus never keeps track of how many people they heal. Bragging runs counter to their order's oaths.
4 - Immediate access to healing kept injured Watchfolk alive, but a few citizens died from accidents and the initial hysteria.
5 - Where were they for 5 centuries? Why did they leave? Why did they come back now, ridden by the Heroes of Fellport?
6 - A spring festival of small plays and performances has been around for centuries, but Terry Duncan formalized FolioFest.
7 - Fewer rich vacationers, sure. Many Ionian soldiers went for a swim, until summoned water elementals attacked them.
8 - Actually 203 with the three Honorary Certificates of High Wizardry awarded, but 200 graduates is a significant milestone.
