Two Years of Fellport

(This turns into a State Of The Wombat post under the fold, so buckle up.)

We're a week into 2025 now, and I haven't blogged at all until now. After 2 year-long blogging projects focused on the city of Fellport in my current D&D 5e game, I hope you'll forgive me for being a little tired and walking away for a bit. Take a look at the Fellport Almanac if you want to see what I've written so far. There's more to do in Fellport, but I don't have a self-imposed weekly deadline looming, so I'll have a much more relaxed time releasing future articles.

That said, let's summarize the past couple of years.

The #City23 project has 122 posts tagged, but 1 of those was the Fellport Almanac, and 3 others were intro posts of some sort, for a total of 118 content posts. The #Lore24 project has 123 posts tagged, but 1 of those was the Almanac, and 2 others were intro posts, for a total of 120 content posts. The Rumor Mill mini-series took up 52 of those posts, providing 416 total rumors and worldbuilding fragments in lists of 8 rumors per post.

A total of 238 posts? That's quite a number when viewed all at once, and it only took me 2 years.

So what happens now? Now I have this toolbox full of Fellport-flavored goodies, just begging to be used.

Writing and development will continue. I've got 3 dozenish stubbed articles for people, places, and groups in various stages of doneness. Mostly "I need to save this name and jot a note before I forget my train of thought completely", but a few NPCs have stat blocks pretty much done. So there's more content coming as it crystallizes on the page.

I've got some ideas for adventures in town using some NPCs, locations, items, and groups I've written up. I also have a few ideas for diplomatic intrigue that I want to flesh out, which might turn into its own little mini-system to bolt on, much like the Bolthaven Folios that I've worked on pre-pandemic. I might get a few adventures together and release them into the ether to see how they do. I'm working in 5e at the minute, but I could change systems and see how the various systems do against each other.

I also managed to release Condensed Character Creation for Sword of Cepheus on DriveThru and Itch back in September 2024. So yeah, after years of doing things, Wombat's Workshop is a publisher of game products. And in the middle of a blogging project, no less. Yay!

I've got a couple of irons in the fire involving partially-developed Sword of Cepheus products, so we'll see how those go. I've got a couple of editing gigs in the works for the start of the year, which is great. If you need an editor, give us a shout. I've also consulted on crowdfunding projects, so if you need someone to look over your Kickstarter project write-up, I can do that for you as well.

I've felt the itch to write some fantasy fiction again. I don't know if that will go anywhere beyond a post here in the Den of Iniquity, but we'll see.

It's been a busy couple of years, but there's no question these projects have pushed my creative output significantly, if a little narrowly. Suffice to say there's more to come.

Now to schedule the next actual game session and see what the players want to stumble into next.

Thank you all for reading and coming with me on this journey. Now onward into the unknown!
