Intro to Binding

I've been making my own (small) notebooks lately, as I mentioned previously in My First Attempt at Binding. I've been posting several pictures on G+, and then people started requesting a video. I had some time, so I recorded and edited 2 videos yesterday.

The first one covers the tools I use in binding, all of which have Amazon links in the video description if you're interested in picking them up. About $100 will get you started with all the tools you need to get a zine assembled and out the door.

This video is 2 minutes long. What can I say? I enjoy working in a limited space.

Next I turned the camera on and made 4 notebooks at once: two 3x5 inch blank notebooks, and two 2x2.5 inch Fairy Notebooks. If you're making zines you'll need to pay more attention when you cut so you don't make your printed pages look off-center, but otherwise the techniques are the same. I shot about 18 minutes of footage in one sitting and edited it down to about 9 minutes.

My Video Future I'm thinking of making more videos, as I enjoy editing a pile of footage down to the important bits. It's like editing a written document, but it feels more immediate.
