Dragons have returned to Beneterra, ending Ionian aggression against Fellport in what historians will call the Ten Days' War. For week 46 of The Rumor Mill, we look at all the little things that need to happen to tidy up after the failed invasion. Now that hostilities have ceased, the Fellport Watch is sending out parties to assess what else needs repairs or remediation. Is there poison in the water supply? Did the Ionians leave traps outside the harbor mouth? Did the crops at the Amaryllis Estate suffer any damage, or is Fellport's food supply safe for now?
Let's look into some stories on the streets in the aftermath of the war in this otherwise peaceful trading hub.
1d8 | Rumor | True? |
---|---|---|
1 | Elements of the Legio VI Victrix deserted, and they need to be captured. | Yes1 |
2 | The legions sieged the Topside Gate for two weeks. Did they poison the water? | Maybe2 |
3 | The Longstriders Guild will need to re-enchant the circle outside the gate. | No3 |
4 | Someone needs to work out a deal with these dragons to keep the city safe. | Maybe4 |
5 | Most of the Legio VI attacked the Amaryllis Estate, so they need to repair defenses. | Yes5 |
6 | Plans are afoot to fortify the mage towers to defend against air attacks. | Maybe6 |
7 | The sea battle caused more casualties than the siege, so the Camillians stayed busy. | No7 |
8 | We'll need time to clear a few trireme wrecks before the harbor is back to 100%. | Yes8 |
1 - Rumors of deserters attacking Menagerie Manor have reached Fellport. The Ionians were driven off and humilated.
2 - Safeguards exist to keep Fellport's drinking water clean. Crystal Lake has no overt defenses, but magic keeps the water pure.
3 - Nothing happened to the teleportation circle that everyone knows about just outside the city gates. They used it for supplies.
4 - Endarix led the charge against the Ionian army, and he has a history with Nazar at the College, so I think we'll pull through.
5 - The generals thought the farms would be easier for the novice soldiers in the VI. Earth elementals blunted their first attack.
6 - The experimental mage towers let spellcasters use telekinesis on catapult stones to pass over the city and attack ships.
7 - Fellport has a few warships, and Ionian triremes are slow and clumsy. Sea battles were exciting, but didn't do much damage.
8 - Two triremes tried to charge the harbor, but the harbor chains held, ripping the ships apart. Fellport took hundreds of sailors.
