Pocket Mansion

Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement)

This normal-looking piece of finely-woven midnight blue linen rolls or folds into a fist-sized package, but it opens up to a five foot square when unfolded and spread on a flat surface. It easily fits in a belt pouch or a scroll case for storage and transport. The corners will stick to vertical surfaces, allowing easy deployment against walls, though the corners will come loose with a light tug.

You can use an action to unfold a pocket mansion and place it on or against a hard surface, whereupon the surface shimmers and forms a magical portal to an extradimensional space, similar to a portable hole. However, the pocket mansion allows access to a small hallway with a door at the far end which opens into a permanent Mordenkainen's magnificent mansion. The mansion's owner can configure the interior as they see fit er the spell, with up to 100 nearly invisible servants able to serve a 9-course feast once per day, refreshing at dawn. Items can be brought in from beyond the portal and stored inside, making it an easy way to transport a wide variety of bulky items. Nobody knows if the mansion has an upper weight limit for creatures and stored goods.

The owner can designate a list of creatures able to access the portal, and can revoke access to the pocket mansion with merely a thought. The owner can similarly open and close the portal with a thought if within 30 feet of it. The portal is invisible while closed.

You can use an action to close a pocket mansion by taking hold of the edges of the cloth and folding it up. Folding the cloth closes the portal, and any creatures or objects within remain in the extradimensional space with no chance for suffocation. No matter what's in it, the hole weighs next to nothing.

Only Birdie Salt has access to a pocket mansion (that we know of) that she calls "The Nest", and only because Doni Ebikade had stolen it back in N'dali Tota. Someone in N'dali made it, and assumedly they want it back. None of Birdie's crew willingly admit to the mansion's existence, preferring to keep the secret among the three of them alone. It has been their home for the past 6 years, providing a safe space to recover and study between adventures. Birdie moves the portal around Fellport every couple of days to keep everyone guessing about where the crew hides out.

Designer's Note: Yes, it's a cross between a portable hole and the mansion, but it makes sense to me. Plus, it's permanent without having to reset and recast every 24 hours. It's powerful, but I wanted these teen sleuths to have somewhere safe to call home. Let's keep it very rare, or everyone and their duck will absolutely need one of these things.
