Lucius Modesto

Born in the town of Culmen in the Dales, Lucius has always had a sharp mind and a gift for languages. His thirst for knowledge drank all the books in Culmen before his teen years, so he wandered the world in search of knowledge. Rumor has it that he penned many contracts over the years, infernal and otherwise, which gives his shop The Dipped Pen a faint air of brimstone to this day. He studied for decades in various libraries around the world before settling down in Fellport thirty years ago and opening the best scriptorium and ink shop in town.

Lucius's white hair continues to fight baldness but continues to lose as he approaches his 83rd birthday. His light blue eyes shine brightly behind the wire-rimmed glasses perched on his broad nose. He always wears his three-piece dark blue herringbone suit to work, and he checks his gnomish pocket watch on a silver chain obsessively. He takes whatever time he needs to gather information and fully examine the situation, and he chooses his words extremely carefully. He exudes patience to the point of seeming slow, but he actually thinks three moves ahead, taking the time to prevent misunderstandings now before they explode into offense and violence.

Lucius enjoys word puzzles and ciphers, sometimes leaving a puzzle out on a shelf to see who picks it up and puzzles it out. He never met a language he didn't like, and he speaks fluent Common, Elvish, Halfling, Latin, Gnomish, Okulari, and Infernal. His adventuring days live in his past now, but he still enjoys a challenging special order or academic problem to stretch his skills.
