Ring of Enhanced Healing |
Single strands of copper, silver, and gold weave together to form this otherwise unadorned band. It radiates evocation magic under a detect magic spell. When the wearer casts an instantaneous healing spell from the Evocation school of up to 5th level, every target of that spell regains an additional +1 hit point.
The ring contains a pool of 2 sorcery points, which can be used by a sorcerer or someone with the Metamagic Adept feat as if they were part of their sorcery point pool. This pool refreshes daily at dawn.
The ring allows the wearer to use one of the following metamagic effects on healing spells only, at a cost of 1 sorcery point per effect.
- Empowered Spell: The wearer may reroll up to 3 dice to determine the number of hit points regained. The wearer must use the new rolls.
- Twinned Spell: When casting a healing spell of 1st level that targets a single creature, the wearer may target a second creature within range.
The wearer may spend sorcery points from their personal pool to power any of these effects.
Ashley Macmillan created this ring as a personal request for Howl Amaryllis to help her keep the Heroes of Fellport on their feet. She declined monetary payment, preferring instead to have dinner with the six dragons that came to end Ionia's invasion of Fellport.
Designer's Note: Ashley is a sorcerer, but she finagled a way to boost healing magic for a cleric. I reworked the abilities from my initial draft, replacing "once per day" on each ability with a pool of 2 sorcery points usable by the wearer. On reflection, this would make an incredibly useful low-level magic item for a Divine Soul sorcerer. I think the ring's limited utility justifies its uncommon rarity and corresponding low price tag.
