Republishing Old Projects

So I've been re-releasing a few old projects on my itch store. I want everything I've made in one place, and I've settled on itch as my publishing home for now.

NanoRegent

First up, NanoRegent (originally mentioned over here) strives to create a more free-form domain management game. Players take on the role of nations on an international stage. The nations ebb and flow, conflicting and cooperating, mostly through creating and using Aspects to fuel or resist changes as directed by Edicts made by each country. Actions resolve through a roll of 4 Fate Dice, with the victor being able to narrate the results. The game ends by mutual agreement when the story seems to have run its course.

It's not for everyone, since all of the creative burden falls on the players rather than the system, but I'm excited to see if this resonates with the more adventurous groups out there.

Irons In Fires

Happy Zine Month!

I've made a goal to publish 6 things in 2026. I'm knee deep in laying out and polishing up Bolthaven Folio #3 right now, and I've got a new editing gig in the door, so the next few weeks feel very full. I've got some other projects in the hopper, but I may take a look back and rehab some old projects during March. So let's see what's on my mind lately.

The Present

I've done some testing with the Settlement System that appears in Bolthaven Folio #3. It's minimal as tests go, but I think the system holds up. It'll be interesting to see this work at larger settlement sizes. I'm hoping to get that published this week for Zine Month (#ZiMo), so stay tuned. And the aforementioned editing gig just kicked off, so I'll be distracted for the next few weeks.

Promptober's On Hold

Jack O Lantern (234209875)
Current Mental State
I have 6 prompts left to go for the month, and 2 days to get them done. I'm knee deep in an editing gig, I'm driving my mother to surgery and a follow-up appointment over the next 2 days, and it's Halloween. Suffice to say I'm not finishing before the end of the month unless I really phone it in. And I'd rather wait to produce something decent than hit an arbitrary deadline with creations that fall short of my own expectations.

Cranking out 25 of 31 prompts isn't a bad thing, but it's not the full challenge. Still, that's 25 things that didn't exist before I signed on. I'm mostly sticking with a fantasy setting, which makes some of the prompts more challenging. I'm probably going with another piece of futuristic fiction for Found Footage, though. Stay tuned.

Two Weeks In Stone Limbo

Boulder on the hillside
Felt this big. It did not rock.
Hi. It's been 2 weeks since I posted. Why? Well...

I posted for my birthday, then went to run my D&D 5e game. About 2.5 hours in, I got dizzy, nauseous, and feverish all of a sudden, and my pants felt far too tight. One trip to the ER later, with two IVs (the first one wouldn't clear so they ran a second one), a CT scan, some morphine, and a couple of scrips, they told me I had a 4mm kidney stone. They also gave me a 10-day course of antibiotics for the UTI they found, though I'm guessing the bacteria they found was my fault, because intense pain and morphine makes peeing in a cup =so= easy.

Apparently the antibiotics made me feel like crap. I've had zero pain since then, but I've just been so tired for two weeks. I'd sit and make myself available to actually write something, and then just nod off at my desk. The antibiotics ended on Wednesday, but yesterday was the first day I felt passably human. I've been doing the minimum required for the past 2 weeks, and there's much to catch up with, gaming and otherwise.
