We haven't looked at obvious adventure hooks for a while, so let's gather a list of them for week 47 of The Rumor Mill. It looks like hordes of undead (and the rats to a lesser extent) gather in force to cause problems in town. Add the anonymous rich person who might attack the Gostra Festival from Pirate's Spire, the rumors about the kindest dwarven merchant spying for Ionia, and the Ionian sailors seeking asylum in Fellport as prisoners of war, and you have a recipe for intrigue and mayhem. Here's hoping heroes step up to sort out the truth from the drunken conspiracy theories.
Let's explore these eight stories in a little more detail, and uncover the weirdness happening under our noses in Fellport, shall we?
1d8 | Rumor | True? |
---|---|---|
1 | Underwater undead formed a skeletal titan to attack the Spire of Light. How? | Yes1 |
2 | Ghosts have started haunting several people around the College. | Maybe2 |
3 | Orin arrived from Ionia immediately after the dragons attacked. Is he a spy? | No3 |
4 | Zombies attacked the Bella Luna and created more zombies out of fallen sailors. | Maybe4 |
5 | Lower levels report increased rat sightings, especially around the Grand Odeon. | Yes5 |
6 | One person rented out all of Pirate's Spire ahead of the Gostra Festival. Odd. | Maybe6 |
7 | Patrons at the Weather Deck saw an undead figure climb out of the harbor. | No7 |
8 | Several Ionian sailors seek sanctuary in Fellport, which complicates peace talks. | Yes8 |
1 - The recent pre-dawn attack by the skeletal titan marks new undead behavior in the Sea of Sorrows. And the beacon was lit.
2 - Students and professors report hearing voices of long-dead relatives. Nobody can prove these voices are ghosts or not.
3 - Orin did cone through the teleport circle soon after the Ten Days' War ended, pushing a cart of Dalewine for Restful Spirits.
4 - These turn-resistant seaweed-covered undead seem to glom onto dead bodies to animate them. Could it be the seaweed?
5 - Patrons of the Tankard Bar report more frequent and larger rat hordes. What draws them together where there's limited food?
6 - The rental rates are pretty high, so someone with means did this. Are they planning an attack, or just having a huge party?
7 - Tori tried to squash the rumor, as she recognized the guardsman out for a midnight swim, but drunker tongues prevailed.
8 - Two triremes sank, and the captured "indentured sailors" seek their freedom in Fellport. Ionia dislikes this new development.
